UNIDO has contracted ConPlusUltra on behalf of the Ministry of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development of Barbados to support the preparation phase for a project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) with 1.7 million USD. The contract includes a market assessment study of sustainable energy technology suppliers and to develop a pre-feasibility for a cluster for entrepreneurs, stat-ups and domestic businesses in Barbados.
Together with national experts Leisa Perch and David Ince our experts Brigitte Hatvan and Josef Buchinger execute the contract. As key inputs to the deliverables served stakeholder consultations in over 25 bilateral meetings and two national workshops with over 100 participants, further a digital survey and desk research complete the inputs.

The cluster and platform will facilitate the mainstreaming of sustainable energy solutions into key industries by strengthening the capacities and linkages among start-ups, established businesses, industry and academia within Barbados and abroad; so as to translate energy policy commitments into kilowatt-hours and access to affordable and reliable energy services, that benefit the Barbadian economy and as a result create local value chains.
